The Wright brothers flight challenge

Today the children were randomly put into pairs to become modern versions of the Wright brothers. Their challenge was to make their plastic strip fly the furthest. First the children designed their planes then used the materials provided to build them. They were given two test throws then they were given 15 mins to make modifications.
We then had a competition to see which plane flew the furthest and which group had the most consistent flyer.

Congratulations to Fynlay and Jake whose plane flew the furthest and Natasha and Daniel who had the most consistent machine. Everyone in class put lots of effort and thought into their designs and we all had loads of fun. Loving the history class Tamar!

It was great to see them test fly their plane and then problem solve and improve their vehicle

How interesting for you all to learn about history this way. I’ve never seen children so eager to do a history lesson before!
